RH Digger & Driver Hire is a trading name of RH Plant Machinery Ltd (company no. 14486912), led by Rory Hay from just north of Andover. Excavators from 1 to 14 tonnes, telehandlers and full groundworks - every machine with an NPORS operator, the company insured to £5 million public liability with NFU Mutual, working within 50 miles of Andover.

One company, two trades

RH Digger & Driver Hire and Hay & Co are two sides of the same company. Hay & Co designs and delivers landscapes and external works for country houses, estates and architectural projects across the South of England; this side supplies the machines, operators and groundworks contracting that sit underneath that work - and underneath yours. Same teams, same machines, same standards, whichever name is on the paperwork.

That's why the promise about finish quality isn't marketing. The people digging your footings spend the rest of their year building lakes, terraces and driveways that get photographed for design portfolios - they don't know how to leave a site rough.

Led by Rory Hay

Rory is an architecture graduate of the University of Brighton and a Diploma graduate of the London College of Garden Design - a designer's eye applied to muck-shifting. Under his lead the team has delivered the complete external works of country houses and estates across the South of England: lakes and vast earthmoving in the Cotswolds, full landscape construction alongside leading garden designers in Hampshire, and drainage, driveways and land-forming from Wiltshire to Oxfordshire. Behind the firm sits 20 years' combined experience operating and managing plant on groundworks, agricultural and landscaping projects.

The team and site standards

Plant operators across the team are NPORS-certified for excavators, telehandlers and dumpers. Senior staff hold SMSTS site management certification, and the company has acted as Principal Contractor under CDM. Where we are

Based just north of Andover in the North Wessex Downs - within easy reach of Andover, Hungerford and Marlborough, and under an hour from Winchester, Salisbury, Newbury and Basingstoke. No public yard: machines are either working or being maintained, which is how we like it.
